Orie cited for Schickerling tackle

Blue Bulls Under-21 lock Marvin Orie will appear before a SARU disciplinary committee in Pretoria on Tuesday after being cited for a dangerous tackle in the Under-21 Competition on Saturday.

Orie was cited for allegedly contravening law 10.4 (e) by tackling Western Province Under-21 lock JD Schickerling around the neck in the third minute of the match at Loftus Versfeld and holding the grip until both players fell to the ground.

Advocate Tokkie van Zyl has been appointed as the Judicial Officer.

Griquas No.8 Carel Greeff and Griffons flank Frans Sisita will also face disciplinary hearings on Tuesday via teleconference.

Greeff received two yellow cards in their Currie Cup Premier Division clash against the Free State Cheetahs in Kimberley, while Sisita received his third yellow card of the season in their First Division clash against the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington on Saturday.

Advocate Donny Jacobs has been appointed as the Judicial Officer for both hearings.

* MeanwhileThe Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd wished two players – who suffered serious neck injuries this past weekend – the best of luck with a speedy recovery.

Schickerling and Dyllan Beneckhe both suffered the injuries at the weekend.

While Schickerling was injured playing for the WP U21 against their Bulls counterpast at Loftus Versfeld, Beneckhe was injured playing for Tukkies Youth Club against Harlequins in a Under-16 league match.

Both players are being treated at the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Groenkloof, Pretoria.

The High Performance Manager at the BBC, Xander Janse van Rensburg, on Monday extended his good wishes to the players and their families.

He has visited Schickerling in hospital and spoke to the parents of Beneckhe.

"Injuries are part and parcel of rugby, an unfortunate reality, and a neck injury is probably the worst thing that can happen to a player on the rugby field," Janse van Rensburg said.

"We would like to wish the families of the two players and the players themselves all the best of luck as they make their way to a full recovery, furthermore we would like to assure them that they are in our thoughts and prayers."

Blue Bulls captain Deon Stegmann also visited the injured players in hospital on Monday.

Bulls captain Pierre Spies, on Twitter, also requested rugby supporters to pray for the speedy recovery of the two players.
