Province on red alert

Western Province coach Allister Coetzee is determined to snuff out the ill-discipline that saw his team reduced to 12 players against the Sharks.

Whilst the sopping conditions at Kings Park provided a major obstacle, Province made things even tougher for themselves when loose forwards Jebb Sinclair and Tyrone Holmes were both shown red cards for foul play off the ball.

Coetzee admitted that his side showed a lack of composure which led to the game ending in farcical circumstances when replacement lock Wilhelm van der Sluys received a late yellow card.

"Yes, the conditions were not ideal but the Sharks adapted better than us and made fewer mistakes.

"Our discipline cost us. We gave away some soft penalties and although we were frustrated our emotions were not channeled well on the night," he said.

The Western Province boss said that both Sinclair and Holmes will be disciplined for their conduct.

"Those two red cards (to Sinclair and Holmes) were unacceptable and we will deal with it internally. We have a protocol to deal with discipline in-house and we will deal with Jebb and Tyrone and then move on from here.

"Both Jebb and Tyrone showed plenty of remorse after the match, but what's done is done and we will move on and focus on our next match," he said.
