Province out to limit Swart's influence
Swart has been in great form for Griquas throughout their campaign so far and he is one of the main reasons why they are fourth on the standings after four wins and two losses.
The 24-year-old, who can play flyhalf and centre, is currently the third highest points scorer in the tournament behind Tian Schoeman of the Blue Bulls and Curwin Bosch of the Sharks.
Province will not be wanting to give the playmaker too many opportunities to kick at goal and that is why the Cape side are working hard to improve their discipline, especially after their less than satisfactory 31-23 win over the Pumas at Newlands last weekend.
"There were definitely some occasions where we were in the wrong," assistant coach Russell Winter told reporters at the team's base in Bellville.
"We addressed it hard after the game [against the Pumas] in the changeroom. We continued to concede unnecessary penalties like offsides, not rolling away – things like that.
"There were one or two free kicks and penalties that we gave away, which was slightly puzzling. We can obviously debate them with the referees, but we have to try and limit those as well."
He added: Clinton [Swart] is really playing good rugby. He is definitely a threat at No.10 and No.12. He has got a good kicking game and he is a hard runner. Their fullback [Adriaan Coertzen] is a very good kicker as well.
"There will be mistakes – it is a given, but we definitely need to limit that department."
Province are targeting a maximum of 10 points from their final two games to reach the play-offs. After their Round Eight encounter in Kimberley, they face Boland at Newlands in the final round.
However, coming away with five log points from their match against Griquas will be Province's toughest task.
"It is never easy going there [Kimberley]," said Winter.
"Throughout my career in rugby, Kimberley was probably always one of the hardest places to go to and play rugby. If you live there, you are tough in my opinion. It is a beautiful place, but it is a tough place to go and play rugby.
"They [Griquas] got a great work ethic and they got a great culture there.
"It will be physical without a doubt. They will match most sides physically and they got quite an expansive game as well. They throw the ball around and they are quite good at that, so it is a very important game and we know that it is going to be a very tough game."
