Pumas lose van Staden

The Pumas had a bye last weekend. However, a number of players have been added to the team's lengthy injury list.

Whilst most of the injuries appear superficial, fullback Justin van Staden will be out for three-four months with a fractured toe after he had surgery last Thursday.

Reynier van Rooyen is sitting out training with an MCL tear and is wearing a brace.

Khwezi Mona and Brain Shabangu are set to visit a specialist on Monday to determine whether they have to undergo surgery. While Jeremy Jordaan has kidney dysfunction and is sitting out training as he undergoes tests.

However, some of the team's players who were out with short-term injuries are set to return to training.

Flank Lambert Groenewald, who was out for two-three weeks with a calf muscle tear, will on Monday have an MRI scan.

Centre Hoffman Marit, Ruwellyn Isbel, Marne Coetzee and Simon Westraad are back in training.

Meanwhile, Reuben Johannes will have a field test on Monday to determine whether he is fit to play following a calf muscle strain.

Stephan Greeff did not need surgery on his shoulder injury but will be out of action for two weeks.

In terms of long-term injuries, Johan Herbst is still in rehab for a ruptured bicep, and could return in October. Lubabalo Mtyanda and Chris Cloete are still out of action and could make a return next year.
