Season over for Duvenage
Western Province have suffered another injury blow with the news that experienced scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Duvenage left the field early in his team's comprehensive 42-6 victory over the Blue Bulls at Newlands on Saturday with a lower leg fracture which has ended his hopes of playing again this season.
The loss of Duvenage, who was in a moonboot before the end of the match, means that there will be more opportunities for young scrumhalves Nic Groom and Louis Schreuder this year.
Groom took over from Duvenage and acquitted himself well, crossing for Province's first try and providing good service to the backline whilst Schreuder has already got two starting opportunities this season.
Other injury concerns for Western Province coach Allister Coetzee include promising backline players Marcel Brache and Ederies Arendse. Brache suffered a calf strain and Arendse has a problem with his shoulder.
Brache's injury should not be too serious but Arendse will go for a scan on Sunday.
