Senatla set to miss two weeks
Star wing Seabelo Senatla will miss this Friday's Currie Cup clash against the Eastern Province Kings at Newlands, after picking up an ankle strain against the Blue Bulls last weekend.
Speedster Senatla set up a try for Kobus van Wyk and scored a brilliant individual try himself on Saturday, before limping off with an ankle injury after falling awkwardly in the 67th minute at Loftus Versfeld.
At this stage he will miss this weekend’s clash against the Kings, as well as WP’s away clash against the Golden Lions next weekend.
Western Province are the only unbeaten team in the Currie Cup after four rounds of action and will host the EP Kings at Newlands on Friday
Senatla will be out for a minimum of two weeks with an ankle strain. He has been sent for a scan, after waiting for the swelling to subside, to ensure that there is no further damage to his ankle.
A possible replacement, Kenyan wing Willie Ambaka, is still unavailable for selection with an ankle injury (syndesmosis) of his own.
Centre Michael van der Spuy has passed a fitness test on his hamstring – which saw him miss the Bulls match – and is back at full training.
While Hooker Siyabonga Ntubeni (calf muscle) is fit but still not available for selection. He will definitely be ready for the Lions game in Johannesburg.
Coach Allister Coetzee spoke of other possible replacements for the crowd favourite Senatla.
“We have Devon Williams and Pat Howard, who are part of our squad, and we’ve got Under-21 players Justin Geduld and EW Viljoen training with us too.
“Geduld is an out and out outside back and he also has an accurate left boot.
"We don’t want to push him too hard but he’s settled in nicely in the Under-21 team and, of course, Pat Howard did well for us in Round One when he came on as a wing.”
