Sharks run rampant

The Sharks romped to a 76-0 victory over the KZN All Stars in a Currie Cup warm-up match at Kings Park on Friday.

The hit-out was an opportunity for the Sharks, sans their Springboks, to test how their new coaching philosophy has been embraced ahead of the start of the Currie Cup next weekend.

It also provided the players some much-needed game time following their 58-13 win over the Southern Kings in their final-round Super Rugby match on July 13.

The match marked the return of fit-again Tim Whitehead who formed a promising midfield partnership with Louis Ludik.

Speedster Sibusiso Sithole scored the opening try with scrumhalf Charl McLeod scoring either side of the first water break, the second thanks to a break by Keegan Daniel.

Lock Edwin Hewitt powered over next before Lwazi Mvovo scored the Sharks’ fifth try on the stroke of half-time. Fred Zeilinga kicked three conversions to make it 31-0 at the break.

The Sharks ran in a further seven tries in the second half, Craig Burden, Marius Joubert, Jaco van Tonder, Lubabalo Mtembu and Sergio Torrens getting in on the act and Mvovo completing his hat-trick.

The scorers:

For the Sharks:
