Schickerling 'fine' for Currie Cup Final

Western Province head coach John Dobson said lock John Schickerling will be available for the clash in Durban, despite  suffering an ankle injury in his side's 19-5 semifinal victory over the Golden Lions at Newlands.

"JD [Schickerling] is going to be fine, so that is important to us. He came off with that ankle, but he will be fine. He will train tomorrow [Tuesday]," said Dobson.

Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty over the availability of flank Jaco Coetzee.

Coetzee left the field after taking a knock to the head at the end of the first quarter against the Lions.

"Jaco is still not cleared. We are probably going to give him until later [Thursday] in the week. He is sort of going through the return to play protocol, so he is not there yet.

"He will be a big loss. He's got serious stopping power on defence and you saw his carries, so he will be a significant blow for the team.

"I hope he is going to make it, but we will give him as long as possible," Dobson added.

Centre EW Viljoen has already been ruled out of Saturday's Final with a hamstring injury.

Ruhan Nel will likely take Viljoen's place in the midfield, while centre Daniel du Plessis will also be available for selection.
