Stormers XXIII Utility back Dominic Malgas put pen to paper to join the Cheetahs after impressive performances for the Cape side during the 2026 Currie Cup season.

Malgas offers versatility across the back three, although his preferred position is fullback, and he is a prolific goal-kicker to boot.

The 21-year-old also represented the Junior Springboks on five occasions and formed part of the 2025 squad that broke South Africa’s U20s title drought in Italy.

Speaking on joining the Cheetahs, Malgas said:

“I am really excited to start this next chapter with the Cheetahs,” Malgas said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and for everyone who has supported me and helped me get to this point.

“I’m looking forward to getting to Bloemfontein, meeting the team, putting in the work and taking on this new challenge.

“I can’t wait to get started and give everything I have for the Cheetahs jersey.“

The Cheetahs are yet to name their squad for their 2026/27 Challenge Cup campaign.
