Zane Kirchner's SWD out to end Boland's unbeaten run

ROUND THREE PREVIEW: The First Division leaders the Boland Cavaliers, are playing home in an exciting clash with SWD Eagles in a third-round fixture in Ceres on Saturday.

The Cavaliers have won both of their games to date – the only team to have done so – which demonstrates how evenly match the competition has been so far.

SWD will have to keep Duren Hoffman, the Boland Cavaliers fullback, as well as playmaker Ashlon Davids in check if they want to stay in the hunt for success in Ceres. The Cavaliers pack have laid a solid platform for their fleet-footed backs to do their magic, and they would want to continue that momentum on Saturday.

A measure of the Cavaliers’ all-round attack can be gauged from the fact that Davids have so far, in just two games, succeeded with nine conversion kicks already, whilst also adding three penalty goals.

EP Elephants will fancy their chances at home in Kariega (formerly Uitenhage) against the visiting Leopards, who in turn would want to redeem themselves after falling short against the Falcons last week in Potchefstroom.

The Eastern Cape team will look to Rodney Damons and Jayden Bantom the provide the spark against the Leopards. The pair have so far scored six tries between themselves, three apiece, and they are especially dangerous from broken play. The dependable Rosco Syster have also three tries in the bag from three outings.

The third Saturday afternoon fixture will be staged in Kempton Park, where Falcons entertain the Border Bulldogs.

Falcons got back to winning ways last week in Potchefstroom and they should run out as favourites against a Border side that have played enterprising rugby so far, but still searching for their first win after two losses.
