The robust hooker is set to make his 50th appearance this weekend when the Stormers square off with French giants Toulon in Gqeberha.

The fixture was moved to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium due to scheduling conflicts with the Cape Town Sevens, which will take place at the Cape Town Stadium over the weekend.

Though he is the most experienced hooker in the side, Dweba faces competition in his position, particularly from the likes of youngsters like André-Hugo Venter and JJ Kotzé.

“Competition is always healthy, and I’m not getting younger, but I’m getting more experienced.

“The youngsters are also coming through. The boys are quite strong and they’re coming in and they’re knocking at the door. That keeps me going.”

Following the heartbreaking United Rugby Championship loss to the Sharks, Dweba says that this week was a case of going back to the basics for the Stormers.

“We just had to go focus on ourselves again as a team.

“Just keep the ball more, play our brand of rugby.”

Despite the milestone and how happy he is at the club, Dweba says that there are still things he wishes to accomplish in his time at the Stormers.

“As a player, you’re always chasing for something. The day you don’t chase for something, that’s when you know that you’re done.

You’re always looking to be better. You’re always looking to help other players.

“Also the youngsters coming into the system. It’s good for an experienced guy to also give that experience and help out where you can as a player.”
