Euro Cup Round of 16 officials confirmed

NEWS: Ahead of what is certain to be another world-class series of knockout fixtures on the road to the 2024 London finals, EPCR can announce the referees for the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup Rounds of 16.

The appointments have been made by a committee chaired by the tournament organiser’s Head of Match Officials, Tony Spreadbury.

On Saturday April 6, England’s Luke Pearce will referee the head-to-head between the Bulls and Lyon at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, while his countryman, Matthew Carley, will be on the whistle for the meeting of the Stormers and holders, Stade Rochelais, at the Cape Town Stadium.

England’s Karl Dickson will be the man in the middle of the clash between number one-ranked Stade Toulousain and Racing 92 on Sunday, April 7.

The meeting of second-ranked Leinster and Leicester Tigers in Dublin on Saturday, April 6 will be refereed by Pierre Brousset of France.

On the same day, Ireland’s Frank Murphy has been appointed for Union Bordeaux-Bègles v Saracens in Bordeaux and Luc Ramos of France will in the middle for the all-Premiership tie between the Exeter Chiefs and Bath at Sandy Park.

Scotland’s Mike Adamson has been appointed for the Northampton Saints v Munster confrontation at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday, April 7.

The Challenge Cup knockout stage gets under way on Friday, April 5 with the clash of two-time tournament winners, Gloucester and Castres Olympique which will be refereed by Andrew Brace of Ireland, while England’s Anthony Woodthorpe will be in charge of the meeting between number-one ranked Sharks and Zebre Parma in Durban on Sunday, April 7.
