Armitage appeals 12-week ban

Toulon's Delon Armitage has lodged an appeal against the 12-week suspension imposed on him by an independent Disciplinary Committee, as a result of a misconduct complaint, following his club's European Champions Cup match against Leicester Tigers on December 7, 2014.

The Disciplinary Committee found that Armitage had directed abusive language at Leicester Tigers supporters after the match at Welford Road, and was therefore guilty of misconduct.

The appeal will be heard in London on Thursday, January 8, 2015 by an independent Appeal Committee, consisting of Lorne Crerar (Scotland), Chairman, Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Simon Thomas (Wales).

Notes on the independent Appeal Committee:

a) Following the decision(s) of an independent Disciplinary Committee, all parties (the club, player(s), individuals and EPCR) have the right to appeal the decision(s) of the Committee.

b) The independent Appeal Committee is chosen by the Chairman of the independent Disciplinary Panel, Professor Lorne Crerar.

c) None of the members of the independent Disciplinary Committee, which issued the decision(s) being challenged by the appeal, may sit on the independent Appeal Committee.

d) The full written decision of the Appeal Hearing will be made available on at a later date, when the full written decision has been completed and issued to all parties.
