Ashton's appeal date set
The 28-year old wing received the suspension after he was cited by match citing commissioner Yves Thieffine (France) for allegedly making contact with the eye(s) and/or eye area of the Ulster centre Luke Marshall in the 16th minute of his team's (Saracens) European Rugby Champions Cup Round Five match at Allianz Park.
The independent judicial officer at his hearing last week, Jean-Noel Couraud (France), found that Ashton had a committed an act of foul play during the match that warranted a red card in contravention of Law 10.4 (m) – Contact with the eye(s) and/or eye area.
Ashton will be appealing against the level of the sanction imposed.
The appeal will be heard by an independent appeal committee consisting of Lorne Crerar (Scotland), chairman Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Roger Morris (Wales).
