Foden: Beware wounded Saints

The Northampton Saints' scars are still raw from their 25-6 home mauling by Ulster in Round Three, but England fullback Ben Foden believes they can bounce back in the return tie at Ravenhill this weekend.

Ulster made it 13 straight wins in all tournaments this season with their bonus point victory at Franklin's Gardens and have not lost at home in the European Cup since 2008, when Stade Francais left with a 26-10 victory.

Their 12-match winning streak on home soil has already carried them into two knockout phases in the past four seasons and if they can extend their unbeaten run to 14 they will be very much in the driving seat in Pool Four.

Reflecting on the home defeat, Foden said, "I think that it stung so much because we were at home and conceded four tries.

"The performance let us down, as individuals and as a team. There is no finger pointing, we sat down and took the blame as a team, and we know we have to make things better.”

Foden knows they face an uphill battle but he is confident that they will upset the applecart.

"It is a big ask to go to Ravenhill and beat an undefeated side but for us it is about pride, of getting back on track,” he said.

"A lot of people will write us off – which is probably a good thing – but we are probably at our most dangerous when teams take us for granted and we will be looking to put in a big performance at Ravenhill.

"We did not play as well as Ulster as a team and obviously we will bridge that gap if we perform to our potential."
