Ford focussing on the positives

Leinster at last won a tournament match in this season's competition at the fifth attempt and that was enough to leave Bath hosting Toulon with only pride to play for.

"It's disappointing," said Bath head coach Mike Ford. "You have to give credit to Leinster for playing well but we lost the game in the first half in the collision, the line-out and our poor discipline that gave them easy points.

"We were better in the second half but we didn't get the rub of the green with a couple of calls.

"We can play far better but if you don't have the fundamental in place then you can't perform.

"If you don't get a platform, win your own set-piece ball, get over the gain-line or knock them back in the defence then it's going to be a tough day in the office and that's what this was.

"We know we are a better team than that but we have to regroup, do the analysis and work hard to get more performances like last week against Toulon.

"We are going in the right direction when you look at the bigger picture.

"You have to look at what we have achieved in recent years. We've been to the finals of both the European Challenge Cup and the Premiership playing some fantastic rugby.

"We have a backline to die for when we have front-foot ball and a pack that can scrummage most teams off the park. We're not seeing it right now but we will get there because we know how well this team can play."
