Meakes facing up to 10 weeks

Gloucester Centre Bill Meakes was dismissed with a Red Card for tackling Sam Beard high and without the ball in their Challenge Cup final against Edinburgh.

 

Meakes was sent off by French referee Jerome Garces, in the 64th minute of the match for an alleged dangerous tackle on the Edinburgh centre, in contravention of Law 10.4(e)- Dangerous tackling: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.

 

Mark McParland from Ireland has been appointed as the independent Judicial Officer for the disciplinary hearing which will take place in Dublin on Thursday, May 7

 

Under World Rugby's Sanctions for Foul Play, dangerous tackling of an opponent carries the following sanction entry points: Low End: two weeks; Mid-Range: six weeks; Top End: 10 to 52 weeks.
