Robshaw: We threw everything at them
Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw believes his side’s 31-24 victory over European giants Toulouse puts their Heineken Cup quarterfinal hopes right back on track this season.
The Amlin Challenge Cup Champions beat the four-times Heineken Cup winners at Le Stadium on Sunday to move to within a point of Toulouse at the helm of Pool 6.
Robshaw, who is tipped as a candidate to be the next England captain, praised his squad’s effort after they bounced back from the disappointment of losing at home the week before to claim the victory.
“We knew we had to come here and win if we wanted to stay in the Heineken Cup, it was as simple as that,” he told ERC.
“It was do or die for us in the competition.
“We came here and threw everything at them and credit to the guys.
“We were a little bit in awe of them last week but we came here and got stuck in and played for each other.
“It would have been easy to cave in when they got the momentum going in the second-half and when they got on top but credit to us we stuck at our task.
“I’m very proud of the guys and it was a great day for us.
“To come here and take the victory is huge and puts our Heineken Cup hopes right back on track.
“Last season we were focused on getting to the tournament and we are not here to make up the numbers.
“We showed our quality and showed our determination to get into the last eight.”
