Topping the charts: Bosch shows his worth on attack

STATISTICAL SPOTLIGHT: The scoreline might suggest Saturday’s quarterfinal between Toulouse and the Sharks was one-sided, but that was far from the case as the visitors showed some fight in France.

Toulouse outscored their opponents by seven tries to two on their way 54-20 win on Saturday, but they only had a six-point lead with 12 minutes remaining on the clock.

The Sharks troubled the home side with some straight running on attack and the halfback pairing of Curwin Bosch and Grant Williams flourished in that department.

Bosch, in particular, had an industrious game on attack and the official match statistics provided some eye-catching numbers.

The 25-year-old Springbok made more carries (14) than any other player on the field and he racked up a whopping 225 metres.

Those metres are the most achieved by a player in a single match this season.

His vision on attack was there for all to see in the first half when he set up Williams’ eye-catching try.

The next best in that match was Toulouse scrumhalf Antoine Dupont with 13 carries and 101 running metres.

Bosch beat five defenders in the match, which is the highest in his team.

Makazole Mapimpi and Williams are joint second with four.

Bosch’s opposite number, Romain Ntamack, beat seven defenders in the match.

Sharks No.8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe was also a powerhouse with ball in hand.

He was the Sharks’ second-best ball carrier with 11 carries and 90 metres made.
