Valbon and Ayerza in the dock

Brive centre Ludovic Valbon and Leicester prop Marcos Ayerza have both been cited in the wake of their Challenge Cup and Heineken Cup quarter-finals respectively.

Ayerza was cited for punching Stade Francais flanker Remy Martin during the first half of their nail-biting contest on Sunday, in an incident where the French flanker was yellow-carded for killing the ball.

Valbon was cited for a similar incident during his team’s defeat to the Dragons in Newport on Saturday.

Both have been cited under Law 10.4 (a) – Punching or striking: A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s), and will be heard by the independent disciplinary committee as soon as practicable.
