Munster, top of the pool totem pole with 17 points, can advance to the play-offs if they get a losing bonus point.

However, they determined to put the seal on their recent form by beating an Exeter Chiefs team (second on 13 points) that have also shown good form.

Speaking ahead of their decisive clash at a sold-out Thomond Park on Saturday, Van Graan said the improvements in the last 14 months have not been down to just him.

“There are a lot of coaches and players involved,” he said ahead of the final league match.

“Everybody is chipping away and giving their input.

“I said it from the outset, this team is not about me.

“Obviously there a lot of things I believe in and that we are currently doing well.

“One of those things is decision-making.

“Yes, the attack is becoming better, but our kicking game as well. The way we maul.

“If you have a No.9, a No.10, a No.12 and a No.15 that make good decisions, a get you on the front foot, you do put pressure on teams in their own 22-metre area.

“I felt the kicking over the last two weeks was very good. The fact that we kicked well gave us broken-field opportunities and we have managed to punish our last two opponents with that.”
