Wake-up call for Tigers

Leicester Tigers were give a welcome wake-up call by Benetton Treviso at Welford Road before banking the maximum five points on Sunday.

And, although it took them to just three points from runaway Pool Two leaders Toulouse, Tigers coach Richard Cockerill pulled no punches ahead of the return fixture with the Italian flag bearers at Stadio Comunale Monigo on Saturday.

"We were inaccurate – we went to sleep in the second half," said Cockerill after watching his team secure their try bonus point before the break but fail to drive home their advantage and ultimately have to survive a brave Treviso fightback.

"It was a lot closer than we would have liked. It is job done, but no more than that.

"It certainly won't lead us to be complacent next week, so maybe it has done us a favour. We will have to be a lot better.

"The players will know they are in for a tough afternoon on Saturday. We have got to go there and try to get five points.

"Whether that is attainable, we will have to see."
