Lions insist Hendrikse commit to contract
NEWS: The Lions have confirmed that flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse will need to wait another six months before he can join the Sharks.
On Wednesday the Lions bid several players farewell and thanked them for their services, but the social media post had one prominent omission – that of Hendrikse.
It subsequently became evident that the Lions were going to hold the 22-year-old flyhalf to his contract, which only expires in December.
The Lions’ spokesperson sent a curt message upon a request for comment, stating: ‘Jordan is contracted with the Lions until December 2024.’
The young flyhalf has attended the Springbok alignment camps and there is no doubt that he is on the Bok radar.
This scenario can create a crisis for the Sharks with the latest news coming out of their camp that Curwin Bosch will join Brive and Boeta Chamberlain who signed with the Bulls.
The number one flyhalf for the Sharks, Siya Masuku, could also find himself in the Springbok squad which could rule him out of Sharks contention from now until the end of September.
What an impact you’ve all made. Thank you. #LionsPride🦁 pic.twitter.com/C1fD1zdKjj
