Pichot issues new tournament plea

Argentina captain once again urges for Puma Six Nations inclusion

Agustin Pichot has once again asked for his Argentina team to be included in a major tournament after his team's 2-0 series win over Wales.

With the Tri-Nations seemingly a closed shop until 2009 unless a contract re-negotiation is made, Pichot has now turned to the Northern Hemisphere, saying his team would be happy to play home matches on the road and admitting his team-mates might enjoy the Six Nations more anyway.

Nearly every single one of the starting line-up from last Saturday plays his club rugby in Europe, and over the past few years, the Pumas have beaten every one of the Six Nations teams at least once.

"We have played some good rugby, but the problem is that Argentina probably would not bring money to the table," said Pichot to the Western Mail.

"But I believe rugby should be inclusive. How are you going to expand the sport and make more countries stronger if you block their path?

"We, as a group of players, would be prepared to play our home games in Europe if we were able to join the Six Nations.

"I beg you to let us take part in it. What Italy did last season was great for the sport and I'm sure we could do the same.

"It's about thinking. I would play in Llanelli if that would get us in. But Spain might be a better option. It's sunnier for a start!"
