While he was contracted to Bedford Blues, he made contact with the eye(s) and/or the eye area of a player during Doncaster Knights versus Bedford Blues on April 16, 2016.

He was given a four-week ban from August 17 to September 11, 2016.

The Panel comprised Mike Hamlin (chairman), Gareth Graham and Lee Mears.

His move to Bristol was announced shortly after the incident, and Bedford said at the time he would not face his future employer in the Championship play-offs, the hearing was delayed.

Fenton-Wells played for the Stormers in Super Rugby and the Western Province in the Currie Cup and as well as previously representing the Ikey Tigers in the Varsity Cup.

He signed a deal with Championship side Bedford Blues after joining them on loan from Saracens in 2014.

In April this year, Fenton-Wells agreed to join Championship rivals Bristol for the 2016 season.

Fenton-Wells will be available again for their second match against Northampton on September 11.

The 30-year-old is one of three back row players to have joined Bristol, along with Jon Fisher and Jordan Crane.
