Bok predicts Koster breakthrough

Nick Koster has yet to make his Premiership debut, but the talented South African loose forward is earmarked for a breakthrough at Bath soon.

This is the view of his Bath teammate and Springbok loose forward Francois Louw, who expects Koster to make a big impact when he finally features in the Premiership.

Koster, like Louw, a former Western Province and Stormers star, arrived at The Rec in October.

However, an existing knee injury meant he was unavailable for selection during the first six weeks after the move and has so far been limited to two appearances in the European Challenge Cup competition.

Louw told the Bath Chronicle there is still plenty of time for Koster to come good.

"Nick's done very well coming back from an injury and performed pretty well in the two games he has played against Calvisano," Louw said.

"He scored a brilliant try on his debut but that was only showing just a little bit of what he can bring to the table," the 17-times capped Bok flank told the Bath Chronicle.

Koster gave a hint of his class in Bath's 67-11 win over Calvisano last month, when produced a superb solo try. The 23-year-old South African received the ball inside the Bath half from Sam Vesty and showed his pace to sprint away from the chasing defence to cross in the corner.

"I know what he can do," Louw said, adding: "I played with him at Stormers back in South Africa and he had lots of good games there, so I'm very excited to have him here.

"All the guys have shown a liking to him. He's a positive player, a good loose forward and someone who can add a lot of value to the club.

"Nick has got a lot of talent and can bring a lot to Bath, and I believe he will bring a lot.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him on the pitch again because he had a long-term knee injury which held him back a bit.

"He's easing back into it and there's definitely a lot more to come from him."
