Bok scrumhalf signs for Bath
TRANSFER NEWS: Bath will have a Springbok scrumhalf on their books at the start of the 2022/2023 season.
Louis Schreuder will leave the Newcastle Falcons at the end of the current season to take up a new challenge with Bath.
The 31-year-old South African has made 33 appearances in his two seasons with the Falcons, scoring two tries.
Schreuder emerged with the Stormers in Cape Town, thrived with – and captained – the Sharks in Durban and won a solitary Springbok cap against Wales in 2017.
“There is a growing sense of excitement around Bath at the moment, and I look forward to making a full contribution in the next few years,” said Schreuder.
Newcastle Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “We thank Louis for his service during his time with us, and wish him all the best for his move down to Bath.
“Between now and the end of the season he will of course remain fully committed to the Falcons as we look to finish the campaign in the strongest possible fashion.”
Tarquin McDonald, Bath Chief Executive, added: “Louis brings extensive, high level experience in the southern hemisphere, at club and international level, and has proven his value in the Premiership during a successful spell with Newcastle Falcons.
“We are investing resources in the spine of the team, striving to ensure the squad includes at least two top quality players in the key positions.”
✍️ We are pleased to announce scrum-half @LouisSchreuder will join the Blue, Black and Whites next season!
Welcome, Louis 💙
