Deacon calls it quits
Leicester and England lock Louis Deacon on Tuesday announced his retirement from the sport.
The 34-year-old won 29 England caps and was part of the squad that competed at the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand, while he has won six English Premiership titles and two European Cups with Leicester.
But injuries have kept him on the sidelines this season and he has spent time coaching the Spanish national team.
"I have said many times that all I ever wanted to do was play one game for the Leicester Tigers," Deacon told the Leicester website.
"So to have the opportunity to do that more than 270 times, in massive games all over Europe and alongside so many great players, has been a huge honour."
Tigers Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill said: "Deacs is the epitome of the Leicester lad who came through at his home-town club to play at the very highest level of the game.
"He has been a central part of what makes this club tick for a long time."
