Gloucester to dip into South African grassroots
NEWS: Gloucester has formed a new relationship with Kingswood College, a co-educational boarding school located in the heart of the Eastern Cape in South Africa.
The relationship will open lines of communication between the Gloucester Academy and Kingswood College – to share best practice methods of age-grade development in the game.
The Gloucester Academy is focussed on investing in the individual, developing better people, to in turn, develop better players, a vision that is shared by Kingswood College.
Whilst the primary focus of the academy is to invest in home-grown players, the aim of the affiliation is to further enhance our academy programme to benefit the individuals coming through our pathway.
“We are delighted to form a relationship with Kingswood College in Grahamstown, South Africa,” Carl Hogg, Gloucester’s Director of Academy & Development, said.
“Kingswood College and the Gloucester Academy share a similar vision to create a lifelong love of rugby while advancing personal growth, valuable skills and an understanding of the core values through sport.
“Through participation in the team sport of rugby, we will look to enhance and cultivate teamwork, cohesion, and leadership.
“Our relationship with Kingswood allows us to enrich our programme using insights of coaching methods used in a completely different hemisphere.
“We look forward to sharing ideas and thoughts about player development, with the ultimate aim of enabling our individuals to fulfil their potential.”
