Injured Flood remains upbeat
England flyhalf Toby Flood has calmed fears about his condition after he was stretchered off during Leicester’s pre-season game against Ulster on Saturday.
Flood spent the night in hospital after he sustained a head injury after he collided with Ulster lock Dan Tuohy, who was yellow-carded by referee Tim Wigglesworth, in the match at Welford Road.
Flood was finally taken off the pitch after Leicester's medical team had spent 12 minutes working on him and only regained consciousness in the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The 28-year-old remained upbeat and tweeted a picture of himself in a neck brace on Twitter, adding the caption: “How's everyone else's day going?”
Flood, who was recently appointed Leicester captain for the upcoming campaign, has undergone a concussion test and is expected to miss next weekend's Premiership opener against Worcester at Welford Road.
Leicester backline coach Paul Burke, however, said it’s too early to know how long Flood will be out of action.
"It's too early to put any time frame on the injury. We will get the advice from the medics and take it from there," Burke told leicestermercury.co.uk.
