Masi to offer more sting to Wasps

London Wasps have boosted their backline with the addition of potent attacking Italian ace Andrea Masi.

The 69-times capped Masi has represented Italy at three World Cups and was named the Six Nations Player of the Championship in 2011, becoming the first Italian to ever win the award.

Spells at Viadana, Biarritz and Racing Metro have given Masi excellent experience in the European game, and he joins London Wasps from Aironi. He will link up with fellow Italian international Fabio Staibano who arrived at the club earlier this  also from Aironi.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: "Andrea is a versatile player with proven quality and he will be bringing with him some vital experience from the highest level of the game. We are always looking to add real international quality to our squad and I see him as giving us great depth in our backline."

Masi added: "I am really excited and honoured to be joining such a great European club and I am hoping that I can add something to the club both on and off the field."
