Sale signs another Springbok discard
TRANSFER NEWS: Sale Sharks confirmed that Springbok discard Jean-Luc Du Preez will join them on a short-term contract.
Jean-Luc du Preez has signed a three-month deal as cover for the injured Tom Curry and will link up with his brother Rob this week – both who have been excluded from Bok selection since June.
He will be available for selection for Sale Sharks ahead of their Premiership Round Eight outing – when they play Northampton Saints next Saturday, November 24.
The 23-year-old back row forward can play flank or No.8 and has been capped 13 times by the Springboks – along with representing the Sharks over 60 times, winning the Currie Cup with the Durban side just three weeks ago.
“Jean-Luc will arrive on Friday and will join the squad in London before the Saracens [Round Seven] fixture,” Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said.
“He is part of the formidable Sharks back row in South Africa and can play in all back three positions.”
At 1.94 metres and 113kg, he is a powerful athletic player.
“He will fit in well with the culture here at Sale and add to the winning mentality we a creating as we gain momentum this year.”
