Saracens ruin Tigers' home opener
PREMIERSHIP REPORT: Saracens beat Leicester Tigers 24-10 at Welford Road in what was the latter’s first home game of the Premiership campaign.
Noel Reid’s kick initially put the Tigers up by three. However, just ten minutes later Nick Tompkins scored the opening try for Saracens as he found a gap in the defence after making a slick move.
Although a comeback from the Tigers seemed likely as Adam Thompstone picked off Manu Vunipola’s pass to run unopposed from 70 metres, Ben Earl made sure that was not going to be the case.
He went on to score two tries in the second half for the reigning league champions; breaking Jake Kerr’s tackle and running the distance for the first try and picking up on a loose ball to score his second.
