Sharks to swim in a new 'sea'

English Premiership club Sale Sharks revealed on Wednesday that they will move to the new City of Salford Stadium next season.

Sale will ground-share with Super League club Salford City Reds after signing a 25-year lease on the 12,000-capacity stadium, which was completed earlier this year at a cost of £26 million (US$41.2 million).

The Sharks will leave Edgeley Park, the Stockport County football ground that has been their home for the last nine years, later this year in readiness for the start of the 2012-13 season.

Ian Blackhurst, Sale’s co-owner, said: “This is a tremendous move for Sale Sharks.

“The first-class facilities at the Salford City Stadium will provide a great platform as we aim to become one of the top club rugby union sides in Europe.”
