Smit to join Habana at Toulon?

World Cup-winning Springbok skipper John Smit is expected to join some of his former teammates at Toulon next season.

The big-spending French club added to their stable of international stars this week when it was confirmed that Stormers and Bok flyer Bryan Habana will join them after the Super Rugby season this year, and his former captain is believed to be on his way to the south of France as well.

Smit is currently playing for English Premiership side Saracens, but has reportedly already reached an agreeement with Toulon which will see him link up with them at the end of the current season.

With fellow 2007 World Cup-winners Bakkies Botha and Danie Rossouw already on their books Smit should have little trouble fitting in at Toulon, where he will also get the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Jonny Wilkinson, Matt Giteau and Joe van Niekerk.

Toulon captain Van Niekerk made reference to Smit in a tweet welcoming fellow King Edward High School old boy Habana to the fold, which suggests that the move is all but confirmed.

"Welcome my incredible Red brother @BryanHabana the Living Legend @JohnSmit123 and the beast of a man @DanieRoussouw we gonna SYNERGIZE," he tweeted.

Botha also expressed his delight at having so many former Boks at Toulon next season.

"With me and @bigjoevn at RCT looking forward to all the South-Africans joining us over the time. Small bok town. RCT," he tweeted.
