Wiese's 'devastating' contribution in Euro play-off
STAT ATTACK: Springbok No.8 Jasper Wiese was one of several Premiership players that stood out in the Champions Cup Round of 16 clashes.
Wiese helped power Leicester Tigers into the quarterfinals with an eye-catching cameo off the bench.
Tigers overcame a resilient Edinburgh side at Welford Road Stadium to win 16-6.
Wiese was introduced at half-time and scored a memorable try with a devastating exhibition of carrying power.
The South African has been the leading carrier in five successive Premiership rounds and continued his remarkable form into the Champions Cup.
In the second half on Friday, Wiese made 10 tackles, beat three defenders and made 27 metres in an action-packed 40 minutes on the field.

This is the Tigers’ 15th quarter-final appearance, only Toulouse, Munster and Leinster have featured more often at this stage.
Meanwhile, Exeter Chiefs overcame 14-man Montpellier on Saturday, eventually progressing on a countback of tries scored after a dramatic period of extra time ended with the sides level at 33-33.
Chiefs No.8 Sam Simmonds made more carries than any other player in the Round of 16, a total of 20. This equated to 91 metres – the most made by a forward in the round – and two clean breaks.
His side will face the Stormers in their quarterfinal at Sandy Park on Saturday.
On Sunday, Saracens became the third and final English side to make it into the final eight – their 11th appearance in the quarterfinals.
Player of the match Ben Earl made the most metres in contact of the round (32) while Nick Tompkins made more offloads than any other player who qualified for the quarterfinal, a total of four, to help Sarries secure a quarterfinal against defending champions La Rochelle.
