Thomas gets new Gloucester deal
Gloucester fullback Martyn Thomas has agreed a new contract to remain at Kingsholm.
The 26-year-old Carmarthen-born fullback joined Gloucester ahead of the 2012-13 season from the Newport Gwent Dragons.
Capable of covering wing as well as fullback, he was a regular in the Gloucester first team squad last season, making 20 appearances in total.
And, when he spoke to the club’s website on Tuesday, he expressed his delight at taking his Gloucester career into a second season.
“I’m really happy to be staying at Gloucester. I thoroughly enjoyed my first season at the club and am genuinely excited about 2013-14 – even the pre-season training that lies ahead!
“Playing in the Premiership was a new experience for me last season, and I loved every minute of it. Playing regularly at Kingsholm was amazing, our support is second to none, and I can’t wait to get back out there.
“We’ve got some amazing talent at the club, and we’ve had pretty good continuity from last season to this. The potential is there for Gloucester to make a real impact and I’m looking forward to being part of that.”
Director of Rugby Nigel Davies confirmed that he’s pleased to add another piece to the Gloucester puzzle.
“Martyn did well in his first season at the club. He’s a popular member of the squad and a valuable contributor.
“With his ability to cover wing and fullback, he gives us valuable options in the back three and I’m delighted that he’s signed on again with Gloucester.”
