Van Heerden helps Exeter destroy Bristol
PREMIERSHIP REPORT: Olly Woodburn and Jack Nowell scored two tries apiece as Exeter Chiefs powered to a 50-14 win away to Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate.
Toby Fricker gave the home side the perfect start with an early try but after the impressive Ellis Genge was sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous clearout, Chiefs pounced with scores from both wings.
They led 17-7 at half-time after an even first 40 minutes, but in the second half the visitors ran away with it.
Woodburn notched his second, before Nowell matched him as he got on the end of a slick move between forwards and backs.
That made it 31-7, and while Bristol did hit back through Will Capon, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished by Luke Cowan-Dickie’s intercept score.
There was still time for Ruben van Heerden and Richard Capstick to run in two more scores to take Chiefs to a half-century, making it four wins from five this season as they bounced back from last week’s defeat away to Sale Sharks.

For Bristol:
Tries: Fricker, Capon
Cons: Sheedy, MacGinty
For Exeter:
Tries: Nowell 2, Woodburn 2, Cowan-Dickie, Van Heerden, Capstick
