VIDEO: Former Lions star Ackermann reveals his next move
NEWS: Gloucester announced that loose forward Ruan Ackermann has extended his contract at the club.
The 27-year-old has amassed over 120 appearances in Cherry & White since joining from the South African franchise the Lions in Johannesburg in 2017.
Since his arrival, Ackermann has been a prominent figure in the Gloucester squad, establishing himself as one of the most consistent performances in the Premiership.
After 14 appearances this season, Ackermann currently leads the charts for most carries and most metres made beyond contact across the league, whilst also crossing the whitewash on two occasions.
Head Coach George Skivington is pleased to have retained Ackermann’s services.
“Ruan [Ackermann] is a key figure in our squad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a new deal at the club,” Skivington said.
“He’s one of the most consistent performers in the Premiership. He doesn’t always get the credit he deserves but he’s certainly appreciated here by the club and all the fans, too.
“The back-row is an area of real strength for us and I’m looking forward to seeing Ruan get better and better.”
🗣 “We’re going to focus on what we can control and hopefully the result will take care of itself.”@RuanAckermann says Cherry & Whites are aware of Saints threats but are concentrating on their own game.
