Wasps lose pivotal sting
London Wasps' flyhalf Ruaridh Jackson faces up to nine months on the sidelines after scans revealed he has torn his anterior cruciate knee ligaments.
The Northampton-born, Scottish international sustained the injury during his side's 20-16 Premiership victory over Northampton last Sunday.
"We are all incredibly disappointed for Ruaridh, who has made such an impact since joining Wasps this season," said head coach Dai Young.
"He has impressed me during training, both with his skill level and his attitude, and it's a real blow to lose him after he played so well in pre-season and when he came on against Northampton Saints last Sunday.
"Our medical team will be monitoring Ruaridh carefully and supporting him through this frustrating period.
"Professional sport is cruel at times and this is certainly one of those times. Alex Lozowski will now have an opportunity to impress over the next few weeks, alongside Andy Goode, while we also have the option of playing Rob Miller at flyhalf."
Jackson, 26, who grew up in Aberdeen and has appeared in 25 matches at international level, was Scotland's first choice flyhalf during their 2013 Six Nations campaign.
Wasps' are currently sixth in the Premiership table and four points behind leading trio Saracens, Bath and Leicester, after two matches of the young season.
He joined the club this season from Glasgow Warriors where he made 112 appearances during a six year spell.
