Wasps reveal All Black Halai

Wasps have confirmed, after much speculation, that All Black wing Frank Halai will join the club from the Auckland Blues next season.

Halai, who was born in Tonga, scored a try on his All Blacks debut against Japan in 2013.

He made his Super Rugby debut for the Blues earlier that year, against the Hurricanes, and ended the season as the competition’s leading try scorer.

The 26-year-old, who previously played for Waikato in the NPC Cup, has also represented New Zealand Sevens, scoring 30 tries in 33 games.

Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “We are delighted to have signed Frank Halai from the Auckland Blues.

"Frank is incredibly strong and powerful, with great pace and he has already shown his potential through playing for the All Blacks.

“Being able to attract players of Frank’s calibre, in their prime, is a reflection of the upward curve the club is following.

"We have made no secret of our ambition to become a top four side and recruiting players of his ability will help us take another step towards achieving that goal in the coming seasons.”
