Bezuidenhout extends Edinburgh stay
Edinburgh have extended the contracts of trialists Sam Beard and Carl Bezuidenhout to 2016 and 2015 respectively.
Beard (centre) has made 13 appearances for the club since he arrived from New Zealand province Bay of Plenty in November last year.
He has steadily worked his way into squad contention and scored his first and only try for the club in the home win over Ospreys at Meggetland in February.
Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons said: "This is very good news for the club. Sam's a good bloke, a good team man and has fitted in very well here.
"He [Beard] has got very good feet and has a good natural feel for the game.
"I think he has the potential to play a big part in our squad in the coming seasons.”
Bezuidenhout arrived on a four-month trial midway through the season, straight from an unbeaten First Division championship-winning season with the Pumas, in which he was the tournament's top points scorer.
Since making his debut as a replacement in the home European Cup win over Perpignan, his athleticism, versatility and deadly boot from distance have made him a welcome addition to squad depth, scoring 51 points in his 12 appearances at fullback and flyhalf.
Solomons added: "Carl's versatility offers a great deal to us. He is equally comfortable at fly half, full-back and wing, and is an outstanding kicker, from hand and off the floor.
"He's endured a tough couple of months, having joined straight from a strenuous Currie Cup winning season, and I feel that he deserves this opportunity to prepare appropriately and play a full season in order to show what he can do."
