Blues like the taste of victory

Cardiff Blues coach Gareth Baber hopes his side's stunning 17-6 victory over Munster can be the start of a Pro12 charge.

Robin Copeland's solo second-half try ensured Cardiff Blues clung on to the win at Musgrave Park on Saturday, spoiling Ronan O'Gara's record-breaking evening.

The fly-half became Munster's most-capped player on his 234th appearance but his chances of appearing in the Pro12 play-offs will have been hit by this defeat.

Instead it was Blues who picked up their fourth away victory of the campaign, and after a stuttering season to date Baber hopes this can prove a turning point.

"That [win] was right up there, these are the moments you work hard for , in fairness to everyone who is associated with Cardiff Blues that's exactly what we've been working for," he said.

"It's nice to come to Musgrave Park to silence the crowd and come away with the victory.

"I think we showed a bit of character, it wasn't a pretty game by any stretch and I think Munster were a little bit off their game as well, but you've got to take your chances when you can and we spotted the weaknesses in their game and took our opportunities.

"You've got to build on momentum that you create, we've talked about that a lot as a group. You'll get your hits again during the season, but it's a great leap forward for this group of players.

"They're not young players anymore, they're here for the long-term future of Cardiff Blues."
