Cardiff positive over Williams injury
Welsh region Cardiff Blues revealed that Wales centre Owen Williams is making "positive progress" after sustaining a serious neck injury.
The 22-year-old suffered significant damage to his cervical vertebrae and spinal cord that required surgery during the inaugural World Club 10s competition in Singapore in July.
He has spent the last three weeks at a specialist spine injury unit at a hospital in Cardiff and while he remains on enforced bed rest, he now has improved mobility in his arms, Cardiff said.
"Owen will be progressing to sitting up over the coming few weeks," the club said in a statement.
"While it's still early days in his recovery, Owen remains positive and overwhelmed by the messages of support from around the world.
"Owen and his family would like to thank the media for their support and the continued respect of his privacy."
Williams has won four caps for Wales since making his debut against Japan last year and scored a try in the 17-7 win over Tonga at the Millennium Stadium last November.
