Concern about Ulster discipline

Ulster head coach Neil Doak insists his side are certainly good enough to make the Pro12 play-offs – provided they can sort out their away form.

Defeat against Leinster at the RDS this weekend saw the reigning champions leapfrog Ulster into the top four spots in the table.

Doak's side have struggled away from the Kingspan Stadium this season, winning only one of six away games in the Pro12.

But with their European campaign all but over, focus for the remainder of the season is on a strong domestic showing and Doak is confident his side can sort out their travel sickness.

"We need to look at our discipline away from home," he said.Concern about Ulster discipline

"It's going to be tight in the top four. But if we take the opportunities that we create I've no doubt we can get into the top four.

"We have had 11 or 12 first team players not available to us for a vast majority of the season.

"A couple of yellow cards and a red on the road have cost us. We could still have won those games if we had taken our opportunities.

"A couple of referee and TMO decisions have unfortunately come back to haunt us and a couple of missed kicks at goals.

"In the last couple of weeks we could have won games had we not missed a few kicks at goal.

"Those are the small margins at the top end of professional sport, it is the way it goes sometimes.

"We also have to take our chances and that is the biggest frustration for me at the moment in not taking them."
