Connacht edge Warriors into second

Glasgow started on top but Bundee Aki's try gave Connacht an unexpected lead going into half-time. A score from Gordon Reid levelled things up early in the second half but a red card for Sila Puafisi made the job more difficult for the visitors and a try from Tiernan O'Halloran was enough to complete the win for Connacht.

*Richardt Strauss' double set Leinster on their way to a 50-19 bonus-point win over Treviso to finish the regular season top of the table. Strauss crossed twice, his first league tries in two years, while Jonathan Sexton also went over in the first half.

Jack McGrath, Isa Nacewa, Mick Kearney, Noel Reid and Garry Ringrose all dotted down after the break to ensure Leinster will have a home semi-final against fourth-placed Ulster.

The victory maintained their 100 percent league record at the RDS this term and that combined with the fact that no side in Pro12 history has ever lost a home semi-final, will have them confident of participating in the final for a seventh time come May 28.

Marco Lazzaroni, Matteo Muccignat and Enrico Bacchin did cross the whitewash for Treviso but defeat means they end the season in 12th.

*Munster will play in the Champions Cup next season after Rory Scannell's two tries helped them beat Scarlets 31-15, bringing an end to the Welsh club's top-four hopes in the process.

Scarlets needed to win and hope Ospreys were able to beat Ulster to extend their season into the play-offs but neither of those scenarios materialised as Munster signed off their season on a win in front of their home fans.

Francis Saili and Scannell both crossed in the first half but three penalties from Steve Shingler kept the visitors in touch. But the hosts strengthened their hold on the game after the break with Ronan O'Mahony, CJ Stander and Scannell crossing.

*Ulster secured their place in the play-offs as they ran in six tries in their 46-26 victory at Ospreys. Dan Biggar's score had given Ospreys an early lead before Paddy Jackson and Rory Best put the Irish province in front.

Josh Matavesi briefly  pulled the hosts level but Andrew Trimble's try sent Ulster into the break 21-14 ahead. And the visitors were to retain their lead for the rest of the match as Chris Henry, Stuart Olding and Franco van der Merwe also dotted down, with Tom Grabham's double proving to be merely consolation.

Victory for Ulster sets up a play-off semi-final against their Irish rivals Leinster while Ospreys finish the season down in eighth.

*Cam Dolan and Garyn Smith's second-half tries sealed a 21-17 comeback win for Cardiff Blues as they leapfrogged Edinburgh to finish seventh on the final standings. Three first-half tries from the home side through Hamish Watson, Matt Scott and Tom Brown had put them into a 17-7 lead at the break.

But the Blues – for whom Rey Lee-Lo had crossed in the first half – dominated a scrappy second period and Dolan and Smith's scores after the hour mark turned the game on its head.

In the end it came down to Gareth Anscombe's kicking – he slotted all three conversions on the day – while Jason Tovey had two come back off the post and the visitors held on to secure an impressive victory.

*Carlo Canna's 22 points guided Zebre to a stirring bonus-point win over Kingsley Jones' Newport Dragons at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi and ensured they pipped Italian rivals Treviso to next season's Champions Cup spot.

Zebre recovered superbly from a 10-70 loss to Glasgow Warriors last time out, to leapfrog their compatriots into 11th place after Treviso lost out to Leinster.

Young flyhalf Angus O'Brien had initially put Dragons ahead, but Zebre responded in emphatic fashion through Andrea Lovotti and Kayle van Zyle before Canna knocked over two penalties just before half-time to leave Dragons with a mountain to climb.

Rynard Landman put the Dragons back in contention with a score just after half-time but Leonardo Sarto, Bruno Postiglioni and Kelly Haimona all ran in scores for the Italians as they cut loose in Parma.

Landman and Hallam Amos grabbed further scores late on, but it was a red-letter day as Marco Bortolami waved farewell to Zebre with a superb win.
