Irish hooker commits to Worcester
TRANSFER NEWS: Warriors hooker Niall Annett has committed his future to the club for another season by signing a new one-year contract.
The former Ireland Under-20 captain has made 70 first team appearances since he joined Warriors from Ulster five years ago and has been in sparkling form since he returned from a shoulder injury last month.
Annett has started every match since he returned from the injury and won particular praise for his courageous display against Gallagher Premiership leaders Exeter Chiefs which helped Warriors to claim two priceless bonus points.
“It’s the way things work sometimes. You are not always 100 per cent all the time when you are playing but I was fit enough to play for sure and I was just glad enough to get out there with the boys,” Annett said.
“I’m delighted to have signed for another year. This is a place that I am passionate about. It’s my fifth year I will be heading into my sixth year next season so I’m looking forward to see what unfolds.
“I think I’ve put in some good performances this season and I’m looking forward to getting more opportunities and to play some good rugby when I do.”
Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons expressed his delight that Annett has signed a new contract.
“Niall is an outstanding team and club man who has made an invaluable contribution to the Warriors cause,” Solomons said.
“I am delighted that he is extending his stay with us and look forward to working with him next season.”
