Kellock hopes for lasting success

Glasgow Warriors have been winning plaudits for their impressive performances in thePro12 this season and captain Al Kellock is confident his side can build a legacy to rival the most storied clubs in the league.

A 16-6 victory over rivals Edinburgh, in the first leg of the 1872 Cup last weekend, saw Gregor Townsend's men reach the midway point of their campaign firmly on course to reach the play-offs.

Last year's runners-up are hoping to go one step better this season but Kellock admits the Warriors are ultimately looking to emulate the success of multiple champions like Munster, who Glasgow defeated 21-18 in Round 10.

Yet with plenty of rugby left to play this season, the 33-year-old is adamant his side will be ready to hit their straps at the business end of the year.

"What we've got to try and do from those games is learn and improve. I believe we did that in the secondhalf against Munster, and the firsthalf especially against Edinburgh.

"You lose games. Every team is going to do it, but you have to make sure you are moving forward all the time. So we need to peak at the right time.

"You look at Leinster and Munster, and over the years they have been fantastic at the end of the season while being consistent throughout.

"That consistency is there for us. What we need to do is go that one step up at the end of the season as well. First and foremost we need to put ourselves in the position to get into those play-offs," he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
