A statement from the franchise said: “The Lions have always had a deep culture set by diversity, strength, commitment, unity, and family. These values were incorporated into the design and a geometric lion was created on the back of the jersey.
“Each small shape represents our supporters, staff, sponsors, and players that are blended to create a special abstract Lion that is stronger than ever before.
“Taking a closer look at the jersey one will also spot the alphanumeric AA60 on the back of the collar. Our owner Altmann Allers turned 60 on 1 February and to celebrate this milestone and as appreciation for all he has done for the franchise, all Lions jerseys will sport the letters AA60 in the blue colours of Els for Autism.”
The statement added: “This latest Lions strip is super slim with a body-forming shape that lets our players move with speed and precision, providing resistance to challenges with enhanced elasticity and shape retention.
“In the high-pressure rugby from the Northern Hemisphere, the ultimate loop collar of the Canterbury Test jersey eliminates a key weak point in a tackle. It is made of one continuous piece of fabric, twisted in the middle to heavily reduce the risk of tearing. Grip technology on the front of the Lions jersey helps to keep control of the ball in sticky and wet conditions.”
