Low to join Warriors from the Exile

Glasgow Warriors have signed Scotland international lock Kieran Low from London Irish.

The 24-year-old, who can also play in the back-row, will join the PRO12 side in the summer on a two-year deal, subject to medical.

Chichester-born Low joined the London Irish Academy in 2009 and has progressed up the ranks to firmly establish himself in the first team at the Madejski Stadium.

He has played 71 times during a six-year spell with the Exiles.

Low represented England at under-18 and under-20 level but chose to play for Scotland, for whom he qualifies through his Scottish-born grandfather.

He was called up to the Scotland squad in 2013, before going on to make his debut against Australia at Murrayfield and now has six caps for his country.

Low becomes the third new addition for the 2015/16 campaign, after Italy flank Simone Favaro was signed last month and scrumhalf Grayson Hart put pen-to-paper last week.

Glasgow Warriors have also confirmed today that flank Hugh Blake has joined the club from Edinburgh Rugby until the end of the season to provide back-row cover.

Kieran Low said: "This is a fantastic move for me and I'm really looking forward to going up to Glasgow at the end of the season and working with the coaches at Scotstoun.

"I've spent my whole career at London Irish and I'll be sad to leave, but this is an exciting opportunity.

"I've played in the Premiership my whole career, so it'll be good to play in the PRO12 with a very competitive team.

"I'd also love to play for Scotland again and playing with the Warriors will hopefully help me achieve that goal.”

Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend added: "Kieran [Low] is another exciting addition to our squad for next season.

"He has come through the academy system at London Irish and has worked hard to play at the highest level of the game.

"He is a physical, athletic second-row who can also play in the back-row, so he'll provide more competition and give us more options in the back five for next season."
